I think the females have white directly under the neck, males have black under their neck...just check it out next time you see Mudlarks out and about - their necks and mannerisms. :)

I hope he is OK too out there, my sister found a baby magpie summer 2006 outside her house, fallen out of the nest, so she feeded him up and after he was set free he kept comming back every day for food all summer, but in the autumn he suddenly didnt came anymore, he was a sweety too, hope he is ok out there somewhere too. I'ts him on the video I posted to you. there a 2nd part of that video too + some shorter clip. Enjoy ;)

Is that right? I had noticed that there was some with a white 'bib' while others were plain black.
Last week I released a little blue Kingfisher that I looked after for the vet for a week or so until it was ready to go - it was a baby. Snappy little thing! I had to feed it "wombaroo insectivore' mix, supplemented with the odd grasshopper, cockroach and once a small lizard (I felt a bit mean about that). It flew off happily though, into an area where others have been spotted by a friend.

Yeah, I say "He"... but "he" was a baby, so unless he eventually lays an egg... : ) anyhow, he/she is back in the wild now. but he's so friendly, I hope no-one hurts him.
