Mike Nesmith - Rio (1977)

Ex-Monkee Michael Nesmith enjoyed three solo hits in Australia during the 70s. Rio reached No.1 in Australia during 1977 (it didn't chart at all in the US) & was his last hit in Oz.
He wrote this song & his earlier hits.

He became involved in the use of video as a promotional tool & had set up his own production company. This is the original promo video for this song which got played on Australian TV particularly Countdown & so this became a huge hit here.
This was four years before MTV in the US ... it might have been successful in the US if the video had been shown like in Oz.
