From http:// Violinlab.com. Maximizing the use of the bow is one of the most important elements of sounding like a seasoned player. Part one of this series explains how to become more comfortable at the extreme ends of the bow.

  • i just have to personally say thank you so much for your videos. my little sister has always wanted to play the violin but i could never get her a teacher for pprivate lessons, you have made her not care about those anymore she says you are her teacher. i thank you greatly

  • @cookie12386 Aaw. That's very sweet. Tell your sister I'm proud that she calls me her "teacher".

  • Would I be able to apply these skills to the Viola, or should they be used only for the Violin?

  • @Gaara7177 Absolutely. Viola techniques is 95% the same as violin technique. More than violinists, violists have to rely on the use of a healthy amount of steady bow weight since the strings are thicker and require good sticky contact to make them vibrate well.

  • Please, disregard question about a tuner with violin sound. I saw you using a regular A note buzz tuner. I found an iPhone violin tuner app with violin sound called n-tune: Violin-Free by Cocoada under "violin tuners free" at the Apple store. What an amazing work you are doing. Thank you.

  • Thanks so much for these videos. Some of the most clear explanations I've seen.

  • you make me feel bad:(

  • Your violin sounds beautiful! What kind is it, what type of wood is it made of?

  • my teacher tells me not to move the bow all the way and i suck but this ladyy helped me alot when i nwent back to school my teacher told me how i learn how to play it real good thnx young ladyy

  • @sundaynightdrunk thank you for helping me :3

  • I have been looking for a teacher for a long time. I stumbled across your website and was immediately hooked. The first video of yours I watched taught me more of what it means to play a violin, and play well. I have taken lessons before but didn't think I was learning anything. I was learning to play the basic songs but never learned the importance of the basics techniques of how to hold the violin.

  • @JAworstnightmare Watch all her videos. She covers vibrato at length.

  • Uhmm , I can play sad romance by thao xanh nguyen , but somehow I get nervous whenever I play something . Do you have any advice for people like me who can get songs by the ear , because everytime i listen to something nice , i get it fast on the violin without looking at notes . But I'm still not really that good and I'm having a hard time . So do you have any advice . I can't do vibratos too . Cause I don't understand which part of the arm or hand to move .
