taiwan is called the republic of china coz the kmt which was the ruling party in china before communism founded the republic but moved from china right after communism CCP/CPC took power, so the kmt founded the republic of china and moved their ideologies over to taiwan while the communist party established the Peoples republic....

Taiwan are aloud to make there own rules and government and the PRC does not have a say in them, no matter how many times they say its a part of China.
