  • I used to love James Burkes programs. They seem even more relevant today. This was before the Internet took off, he was talking about tele working. It's not exactly replaced commuting to the office allthough it has enabled people to set up offices at home. the biggest change is that any and all information is available through the Internet, two way.

  • It has has for me. I haven't been in an office for over 15 years. I work at home, wherever I choose, and I meet with co-workers online through the net and it's applications. I don't even own a vehicle! (though I had a bicycle once but it got nicked :'( ).

  • how do you do it james burke??? wow

  • Didn't really learn anything from this documentary. "It started in Greece - things change - man is inquisitive."

    Up to the next!

  • Wow, absolutely phenomenal! What he says about change as a fundamental part of our culture makes yout hink - it's made our world through questions, debates and answers, and we'll defend it to the death, "defending a question mark" - brilliant! But really that's about defending freedom and tolerance.

Interestingly when he talks about the ancient, stable culture of nepal we see a world with certainty, but no progress, where we have progress, but no certainty. Thanks so much for uploading!

  • As David Attenborough puts it... it's the opportunists who seize the moment.

  • @JamesBurkeWeb how can i get a similar job?

  • "But why do we go on asking questions?"

    Exactly, James. Exactly :)

  • Rich Godwin, I'm with you. I am in awe of the little nuggets of wisdom JB offers up in his programs - true then, true now, and I conclude will continue to be in the future. It's a joy to be led outside the "March of the Political Minions" and have the opportunity to ponder who we really are as a people and a species.

  • Always watched JB and Patrick Moore on the Beeb back in the 60's. Got a letter from him once. I think that one way you can tell much about a person is by asking him/her who they would like to spend a one on one 4 hour dinner with.

JB would be in my top three and I've had dinners with many of the greats.

JB if you're in Chicago some time, let me know. Rich Godwin Pres Apogee Books
