CraveOnline: How was shooting The Last Airbender?

Cliff Curtis: It was wonderful. It was really great and its also great that Im going to be able to work the two. Im not giving up film. Im just doing another job that happens to be on television.

CraveOnline: Did you take anything from the animated form?

Cliff Curtis: Ive not watched it. I didnt want to watch the animated form because I knew the director, M. Night, was going to depart from that.

CraveOnline: You must be dealing with a lot of pyrotechnics. How do you deal with that?

Cliff Curtis: Fire, well, thats a good spin. Is there anything in particular about fire? Yeah, just dont touch it. I don't know, dont touch it, youll get burned. In particular, Im so in the world of making a movie. They have safety meetings before anything is done and all the safety people gather around, so Im so protected from the fire, I dont even get near it.

CraveOnline: What is M. Night like on the set?

Cliff Curtis: Hes very deliberate and predetermined, extremely. Hes planned everything. Storyboarded to the frame.

youre looking at this wrong. yes it is based off the avatar last airbender television cartoon, but its a different interpretation of it. its not gonna be exactly like the show. and he is sticking to the main plot. he just has to add and take things out.

You are right, If only people could realise it... unfortunately when you adapt things (TV-movie or books-TV etc) they can't always be 'to a T', as there are copyright problems and artistic differential views on it... just look at what happened with True Blood. All the Charlaine Harris book fans were up in arms when it first screened, because of the changes, but when you actually watch it it's brilliantly done.

Here's hoping Shyamalan can pull it off, I can't wait for it.
