Watch Andreas Scholl speak about his first Bach album on Decca Classics. He first sang the music of J. S. Bach as a boy chorister. Now the leading countertenor of our time returns to his musical roots with his own selection of arias from Bach's Cantatas - including one of the best-loved of all Bach's vocal works, "Ich habe genug".

Andreas Scholl is at the height of his vocal powers, the countertenor of reference for all young singers. Here he follows up his much-praised Purcell collection O Solitude with a project perfectly matched to his artistry and musical heritage.

"There are more excellent countertenors before the public today than ever before, but one of them stands out above all others as Caruso among tenors a century ago: Andreas Scholl" (Fanfare Magazine).

  • I relate so much to Scholl's words regarding the amount of effort and demanding that one is required in Bach's music. it's so true, and sometimes even quite frustrating to rehearse over and over again the same phrase!

Bach's music defenetly demands perfection, there is no other way, but once you played it - one can reach the highest level - both musically and spiritually!

  • Welcome, Andreas' new album!!!

  • This is such a wonderful album, a rewarding dive into some deep waters. Bach is the most generous of composers, and Scholl's performance is lovely, varied sometimes risky. What a gift it is. Thanks so much Mr. Scholl!
