Is there that big difference between Foxtrot and Slow Fox? Depending on the dance style and the country that you come from - maybe, but as a rhythm... I don't think so. :)

Just my opinion, though.

So, here goes the funny thing - the man who talks really says "Slow Fox" but the competitive dance is Foxtrot, right?

Anyway, they're really similar as names.

I am not saying it is not. :) I just think that it should be referred to as the Foxtrot just because that's the name IDSF uses.

But, of course, I'm not sure about anything, so...

It is considered a Slow Foxtrot because of the fewer number of beats per minute i.e. 28 or 29 beats per minutes. Most social foxtrot could be played at about 31 or 32 beats per minutes or faster. Quicksteps are played to about 50 to 51 beats a minutes. Competitive dancesport is normally played to a strict tempo unlike social dancing. With a slower tempo, the competitors could do more shaping with their dance figures in their routines.
