Timing of this snow sucked. No one was preped and what few plows the city has were nowhere to be found. I was picking up my wife and 5 year old daugther from Dulles airport to the house in fairfax (12 miles). tooks us 11 hours to ge thome... main problem in my case: rear wheel driver BMW. otherwise a fantastic car, completely useless in the snow.

DC has gotten through storms with 75+cm of snow before. It was the timing of this particular storm that caused this mess. Probably the worst commute since the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon.

I was in this mess last night too. I left the Omni at 4pm and it took me five hours to get from the Zoo to Chevy Chase. I finally pulled into the Chevy Chase supermarket at 10pm and waited/napped until 1am to leave. Would love to hear from others who were stuck too.
