Great lead-up and relatively clear VHS footage! As a kid at age 6 in Rockland MA, seeing those towering uprooted trees was a sight to behold. Thanks for letting us peer into time.

@CTBob i am very interested in stuff like this, being a weather freak, i always looked forward to a hurricane up here, and have had interest of some in the past. i know with irene, their were not really sustained winds, just gusts. what was gloria like

I was 8 years old, living east of Providence, RI in a town called Seekonk, Ma. We were in the celler for about 3 hours but seemed like all day to me. We had a lot of trees over our house and sure enough one hit our roof but only did minimal damage. My best friend across the street was not so lucky. Although his family didn't get hurt a large tree came through the roof and ceiling. His pool was destroyed. After seeing the damage, I thought....I like this, lol.
