I took apart a Hy-Gain T2X rotor that was in the K2GXT (Rochester Institute of Technology - RIT) amateur radio club room. We hope to fix it so that it can replace a damaged rotor that is currently on the tower attached to the HF beam. You can see the "Brake" along with the motor circuitry moving. I am not sure if that AC hum is a good thing... Although It was much more pronounced in the video that in real life. I could hold the brake down for a minute of so with no ill effects, just a decent AC buzz sound coming from the Brake solenoid.
