Sissors Crossing was (I found out later) 104 degrees when I passed through. I knew it was hot, but I did not know how hot. So, I found it miserable. The hike out was long and tedius. However, afer a thousand feet of elevation gain and the sun close to the horizon the desert showed its beauty. That night above Sissors was the most pleasant night on the trail.
Thanks for the encouragment. I am going to tackle another 230 miles this summer. I am hoping my spirits will remain higher if I know I will not be away from my family for too long. Hope to get from Highway 10 to the Mojave - doing the jaunt up to Big Bear with my son in April and then solo from Big Bear starting May 1. See you soon!
did you like the desert section?
