This is just the simple process of flashing windows mobile devices. You must first have your phone unlocked to do so. Unlockers, roms and more can be found over at SPJ. Once you have unlocked your device, and downloaded the rom of your choice, this is the process of flashing your device to that specific rom. This rom in particular was cooked by Mighty Mike from ppcgeeks and is the MightyRom Rhodium Edition for the Touch pro 2.

When you say that it must be unlocked, do you then simply mean unlocked from the carrier (the standard IMEI number based code unlocking), or does it take more than that? I read somthing on xda-developers about "unlocking security for other radios" before flashing ROM's - what is that?

Yes, I'm a total noob, and this is my first time ROM flashing, so I feel like I'm in way over my head. But is it really as simple as buying an unlocked device (or unlocking one yourself), connect it with Active Sync, download the desired ROM (I would go with MightyRom Impact) and run it like you show here while having the phone connected via USB?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
