They use sample triggers, live instruments and vocals. Digital music makes it possible to have pre-recorded sequences that are triggered at certain points, therefore hitting the right pieces at the right time takes great skill... so even though sections are pre-recorded, if they mis-timed a sequence they would look very daft, so it is generally a live event.
