@sakka0 Gory or actually Blutig means bloody. :)

@poodlesusan Agreed, and thumbs up for you comment. For sheer enjoyment I often visit this animation also, the "Alphabet" (the one with the Witches in Bikinis sound track)

Brilliantly done. Good job.

I return to your work often....It is the best.

This is the best interpretation of any of Gorey's work on Youtube.

@FlippyluverHTF Edward Gorey has many pen names... Odgred Weary, etc., etc.

@lovelysushibear - My pleasure. Took about 10 min. via Google. Notice Theoda headed straight for the shore? More wordplay: If you look up the original German title of this little story which Herr Blutig wickedly claimed was translated as tuning fork by one of his near-anagram nom de plume's, you will see it is not German for tuning fork. A free online German-English dictionary will give a translation which refers to how the tuning fork was used in the Bulova Accutron watch in 1960. Enjoy!

@girfan811 - Gorey enjoyed word play: The title, 'Zeitirrthum' is *NOT* German for tuning fork but 'error of circumstance/time'. Google 'Blivet'. The military usage describes the child in this story. Gorey's nom de plume Blutig is German for 'bloody'. Its synonym 'mörderisch' also translates 'gory'. Anecdotes regarding the inventor of the tuning fork, John Shore (trumpeter & lutenist to both Handel & Purcell), use word plays involving the name Shore and conflating pitchfork with tuning fork.

@AliceElphabaWonka - Word play: Gorey chose the nom de plume Blutig for this work, a German word meaning 'bloody'. Its synonym 'mörderisch' can also be translated 'gory'. Anecdotes regarding the inventor of the tuning fork, John Shore (trumpeter & lutenist to both Handel & Purcell), use plays on words involving the name Shore and conflating pitchfork with tuning fork. Lastly, see the military usage of 'Blivet' in wikipedia, to be used in referring to Theoda, the main character of this story.
What? What is it Eduard Blutig instead of Edward Gorey?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but Blutig is German for "gory" ... it's how the story is introduced in the original book.

Awsome! You should do another Edward Gorey animation! The Doubtful Guest is a perfect one!
P.S. What is the piano accompaniment called?
