Heres The Text from their Website:
Our Disaster Fund allows us to respond immediately when major disasters strike.

All donations to the Disaster Fund are distributed according to where the need is greatest, here in the UK or overseas, and cannot be restricted to particular countries. British Red Cross is ready to respond in support of the Japanese Red Cross should there be a call for our assistance. Please keep checking our website for updates.
Since the beginning of the year, tens of thousands of people have been affected by unrest in North Africa and the Middle East.
In March we used £296,000 from our Disaster Fund to provide blankets, tarpaulins and other emergency relief items for thousands of people fleeing violent clashes in Libya into neighbouring Tunisia and Egypt.
This was in addition to £150,000 we gave in February, which was used to ensure adequate surgical and medical care for the wounded and emergency aid for people who have fled from Libya.
In response to the devastating earthquake that hit Christchurch, New Zealand on 22 February we made an initial £50,000 donation to support the New Zealand Red Cross response to the disaster.
We also used £10,000 to help set up a cash grant programme so families in Sri Lanka can recover their livelihoods after terrible floods destroyed crops and homes. And as thousands fled from mounting political tensions in the Ivory Coast, the British Red Cross donated £50,000 in February to help refugees in Liberia.
Thanks to the Disaster Fund, our Red Cross and Red Crescent partners across the world are able to give survivors the help they need -- whether it's food, shelter, healthcare, or another form of support.
Nobody can predict the exact location of the next flood, cyclone, earthquake or violent conflict. But when they happen, the British Red Cross must be ready to act within hours not days.
We have learned from experience that being prepared can play a major role in saving lives, protecting vital economic assets and safeguarding the livelihoods of vulnerable people.
Without the generosity of people like you, we wouldn't have been able to be there and make a difference to thousands of people when they most needed help. By supporting our Disaster Fund, your money will be used as soon as it is needed, anywhere in the world.
Help us be ready in advance and save lives the next time disaster strikes. Please make a donation today.
