This video by WorkSafeBC describes how a skidder rolled 400 feet down a steep slope. The seat belt which was already damaged failed to protect the operator of the skidder. The skidder operator died.

  • The belt has nothing to do with saving that man, your head would bounce off the sides off the cab, it would help, but those things are not to be safe in a rollover

  • clearly the investigator had upteen years of schooling and that always is more important than experience.

Sad for your loss of a good man up there fellows.

  • oh my god this video is really retarted.... in BC just about everypart of were we log is over 40 percent at least

  • 2 mistakes here. 1. He was back down hill sidehill. 2. You dont side hill without a drag on.

  • @mountaincruise but it's the truth

  • what a waste. very sad.

  • i did this job for 15 years. and a total of 25 yrs exp logging . i had 1 roll over. the statement about not skidding sideways on a hillside is not true. you can skid any grade at any angle any speed as long as you have wood on the back. the weight and the "drag" of the logs will keep the wheels firmly on the ground. you just have to avoid any stumps on the uphill side.sidehilling is only dangerous when empty. im sick of worksafe treating us experienced loggers like kindergarten students
