Blackberry Bold 9700 Broken LCD Screen NOT CRACKED BROKEN (LCD LEAK)

The phone itself is fine, its just the LCD screen. Fortunately I am lucky enough to get a new BB (Same model) in the mail in a week or so. Ill be sure to post an unboxing of that as well!

This is what i have, the fucking cost is 200 bucks for the LCD, but i have the 9780 only used it for a month bought it of some fucked up store in US n they gave no warrantys.... sad fucking face

It's the LCD video data ribbon cable, the insulation gets cut by rubbing on a metal grounding stap located next to the cable and then electrically shorts the cable to ground. I disassembled mine, wrapped the ribbon cable with electrical tape, re-assembled and works fine now. I was getting the white screen of death constantly now it's perfect.

I had a similar issue, mine was much more aggressive and worse and probably a different name since it wouldn't just be white with those lines, black with the lines or it would work. No in between. I just sent it in and since its was Friday night i have to wait till Monday for Rogers to send it into Flextronics. (RIM's Tech services)

I'm pretty sure it has NOTHINg to do with the LCD leak, but a loose connection on the ribbon. It requires some disassembly and a quick fix with the ribbon. WILL VOID WARRANTY

If you provider will give you a new phone then do that instead.
