  • This would be much easier in a Euro-cabover!

  • @gsand88 I used to drive a International Cabover. I love cabovers for city driving. They have gone out of fashion here unfortunetly

  • Driving like this ANYWHERE in NYC separates the men from the boys in this job.

My ass begins to pucker right as I hit the Outerbridge Crossing and continues until the nightmare is over.

For me, the worst part is that most of the bridge clearance signs in NYC are intentionally listed a WHOLE FOOT lower than they actually are! And, some aren't!

  • @Nacho66 Yes, and the BQE that are marked 12'2" but you can still run most of it. then there is one that is actually 12'2"

  • you should have pulled up and blocked those cars from raking you at the end, it would have eased some stress from the guy backing up too knowing a brother trucker "had his back"

  • @s98131182 I had a few blocked off with the back of my trailer, but some still squeezed through

Blah blah blah . One in every crowd.

  • That guy had no trouble other than the stupid 4 wheelers, they think we can look through our sheet metal blind side and see them squeezig us while we have to swing the cab straight before we can push back....and that`s why this guy here posted that video..I`m glad he did!

  • As a trucker myself I wonder why he started so dumb.

Why not use the whole bloody road and get a much faster and riks free park.

But then again not many truckers that drive long distance even know how to drive in reverse.

You should try 1 of my normal trips only 1 or 2 lanes in the dark and no help.

And time is a factor because people are waiting for there fresh bread so I MUST be done by 8AM.

And that means I start working at around 2AM.

  • @mrpeabdy1974

Actually, you can run the whole BQE with a 13'6". I did scrape a trailer about 4 years ago on a bridge going thru a construction stretch though.

I drive out of S. Jersey and HATE driving in or thru NYC. I'm no cowboy and no tough guy and admit that even after doing this for 17 years, I STILL get the shakes driving up there. Drivers out West sometimes don't know how good they have it.

  • @KiloByte69 Armchair trucker? Considering I'm 35, have had my Class A since I was 19. I'm hardly an armchair trucker. I have routinely worked, NYC, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area. What have you done? Just because I don't post a video of me backing up doesn't mean I can't jackass.

  • @Vintage1976

I'd love to see you try this, armchair trucker.

  • @MrMariobig That's NYC and NJ drivers for ya. They all think 'God forbid I wait an extra 2 min. to get to where I'm going, gotta get there asap. I drive in NJ, and see it all the time

  • @mrpeabdy1974 72'. I'm 76' with a 57 and it does seem easier to back than a 53. Imagine how my father feels with his 147' super H/H rig :|
