The Climategate emails show that the top climate scientists conspired to hide data, manipulate data, and hijack the peer review process in order to discredit any study that contradicted their theories.

They discuss how to "hide the decline" in temperatures, evade Freedom of Information requests, and which emails to delete in order to conceal their activities.

@dragknuckle The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee has members from all political parties. The proceedings of their inquiry were open and transparent. To believe these politicians would want to cover up corruption or fraud, and that they somehow managed to do it in full public view takes a lot of imagination. No inquiry would satisfy deniers unless it was guaranteed to condemn.

BTW there was no police investigation, just a comment from the Information Commissioner's Office.

I am referring to the police investigation. The police found that he broke the law but could not be charged.

The other investigations were done by people who have a dog in the fight, and therefore cannot be trusted.

@dragknuckle I gave a link to the report and you didn't read it. There is nothing about a statute of limitations. Read pages 24-35 of the House of Commons report for a discussion of FOI requests and the emails. Then read the conclusions on page 50-51. You will see there is some criticism of the CRU's attitude towards FOI requests, but "The focus on Professor Jones and CRU has been largely misplaced" and regarding dishonesty "..we consider that

there is no case to answer."

Read it. Read it all.

Your post is misleading. The investigation in the UK found that Jones did in fact violate the Freedom of Information Act, but that the statute of limitations had expired. The is not quite "exonerated".

Further, these investigations were done by politicians, and as such cannot be taken at face value.

Phil Jones' CRU has been investigated by:

1. The House of Commons' Science and Technology Select Committee

and

2. An international panel of academics set up by the University of East Anglia.

The findings of both inquiries are now in. Here they are:
