  • ...And actually, if there was more footage, of a better quality.. if there were full-length high definition movies starring Edie would that really be better? It's her mystique, her self-destructive energy only ever glimpsed in blurry fragments.. that's what makes her so enigmatic. We will never know the whole story of who she was, I find that fascinating..

  • @worldbones ohhh, THIS.. ;)

  • Without Andy, Edie would have lived and died anonymously.. there would be no recordings of her banal conversations, no footage to study and obsess over.. The fact that in 2011 she is still the Superstar he turned her into.. that is the real art, not what they're saying or the sound quality of his films.

  • @worldbones sooTRUE, u nailed it !!!!

  • @worldbones alth i DO believe she WOULD have caught the media's attention @ the time, even without Andy. her beauty, star presence and connections were THAT strong in '64. like pinkgoddess said tho, she may not have shown up to important appontments ...

  • It's hard to be the judge of other people's feelings. What is is going on here, what's Chuck trying to say? Even Gino breaks in occasionally, though he is supposed to remain passive. Chuck is being horrible towards Edie, talking abut abortions, doctors that supply her with drugs etc. Of course she was unstable, she was very very ill sometimes, everybody knew that. But I guess Chuck was falling apart at the seems too.

  • @MowgliX wasn't chuck on the Sedgwick payroll during this period? as edie's sort of paid caretaker/bodyguard, when she first arrived in n.y. ..........

  • she has such a sweet, yet elegeant voice. I could listen to her talk for hours because of how smooth her voice is and how interesting and intelligent she is. She's got class!

  • @worldbones You're absolutely right, her 15 minutes of fame have stretched over decades. She is indeed fascinating

  • @MsJCBurke I think there is a lot of truth in that. How was she damaged? Someone said she was "damaged goods" and that everybody knew they couldn't have her. What did they mean by that? I'm not sure. I think she was absolutely beautiful.

  • @worldbones Me too! She was the most beautiful girl ever, the hottest one I know. Brilliant and witty too. She *would* have been a major star if the people in Hollywood had discovered her. I love her, she fascinates me.

  • @MsJCBurke Yes I agree, she was something like that, except that she was dazzlingly beautiful. Also she varied a great deal from one session to another. She changed a lot, and not just physically. It is very sad what happened to her.

  • I have Beauty No. 2 on now. Edie seems to be very high in it, and gradually, Chuck becomes bitchier and bitchier, and Edie doesn't notice it at first. Once she does though, she reacts really violently. Why did she surround herself with parasites like Chuck?

  • She was pretty, but not "beautiful" in the way she is often referred to. She was damaged, like Marilyn Monroe, and it appears that damaged, pretty girls holds a fascination for men. Sort of like a train wreck you can't take your eyes off of. The fragile, broken personality.

  • Artistic talent on the part of Andy Warhol gives nothing to Edie's continued mystique. The out of focus video and poor quality audio are simply annoying. The fact that Edie was young, beautiful, came from old money, and had a pathetic childhood resulting in her death at 28, that's what keep the facination alive. Had she lived and become old, haggard, and floppy like we all hope to do, then there would certainly not be the same level of infatuation. Imagine Blondie had died at 28.

  • @worldbones I think that she would have been a well known personality even without warhols influence. She was an increadibly talented artist.
