An historic building in downtown Salt Lake City has been demolished after fire swept through it, leaving it unstable. Fire officials evacuated an entire city block Wednesday night because of the fire's intensity. (Jan. 24)
Normaly they wait to investegate and at least give it a few days before tearing down. And sometimes things can be shorn up and saved they thought about it with a church that was gutted by a fire and it was over 110 years old, one of the most beautiful in the city of fort wayne, Saint Marys, the roof organ and altar were ruined but the windows could have been salvaged to a degree, and the walls were still sturdy even after the fire.
The building may have been in danger of falling down. The structure may have been weakened by the fire and thus posing a hazard of collapsing. It's sad that a historic building was lost. Hopefully there is some pictures of it. There was a club called DV8 here in Denver but it did not last very long.
why would they tear it down within only hours after putting it out. :{ did they not want to investigate what caused it. and second why wouldn't they give people a chance to get photos of the remains of the building some of us like to do that you know.
some have no reguard for history like the city of auburn indiana, the school board voted to tear down an 85 year old craftsman style highschool. even though there is a group that wants to save it. and the gym is in history books for sports
Club DV8 wasn't vacant after 1995. The club closed yes, but from 95 to at least till 2003-04 they hosted alot of concerts. I know, I've been to a few ther. The last one was when Typo Negative came. It hasn't been used since then.
