Saeri Uno Interview Artists Action for Japan

I met Saeri Uno, as of April 2011 a student at the University of the Arts at Artists' Action for Japan held at Daikanyama Hillside Terrace in Tokyo on April 10, 2011. This event is one of many ways Japanese artists and art students are serving the people who are affected by the East Japan Great Earthquake.

Rather than just donating the money, I chose to take home one of the artists' drawing that I felt my 16-year old son would enjoy, and that was Saeri's work. When I asked her why she chose to study art, her response was: drawing allows an artist to find his/her own answer. To draw is to go in searh of one's own answer. I loved her thinking, so I asked her to sign her name along with her message, in hope that it would guide my 16-year old son who wants to study art.

The East Japan Great Earthquake Charity Drawing Project will be held every Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm until May 1st, 2011 at different location. Please check it out and support this effort.

東日本大震災チャリティードローイングプロジェクトにて、東京藝術大学4年生　宇野紗絵理さんの絵を購入させて頂きました。美術に進みたい、と言っている高校2年生のわが子に書いて下さったメッセージ：「絵は自分で答えを出せるもの。自分の答えを自­分で探しに行こう。」
できる範囲で人のお役にたてる行動をする。それを実践している宇野さん、アーティストの方々を応援します。
