Say what you will about Steve Miller's music, the man has sold a lot of records. He also happens to be one badass guitarist, and his namesake axe from Martin -- the Martin 000CMR Steve Miller Signature Acoustic -- is no less badass.
Owen got a chance to play the Martin Steve Miller Acoustic at Winter NAMM 2010, and he (who is me) can affirm this guitar's effortless playability an faultless build. This video affirms the rest.
@collinsamps There was one at the Martin factory when I visited last July, It was being played, plugged in, at the time I was looking around. Unfortunately I didn't get back to test it myself. Plugged in it sounded great, but that might have been the p/u and amp combo. I agree the price is rather 'red'-iculous and probably wouldn't be the best choice for my first Martin.

that's "of" the 383

@hideawayblues - FYI I own #87 or the 383 000c's and they are fantastic guitars. I also own an adirondack / mahogany Huss & Dalton TOM-M custom that is probably the best sounding OM/000 size guitar that I've ever heard, so I concur with Mr Millers latest findings. Both great guitars for sure. I'd like to take one of his new models for a test drive because I do like maple for fingerstyle guitars (works for tommy & doyle!) but the $5399 is rediculous.

@collinsamps Good observation. I didn't know about the timing of that. That is odd. I just remembered that I read the interview a while back and surprisingly to me even, I was able to find it. He must have personal guitars that have it. Maybe it wasn't an option he could choose from when he designed his models. I wish someone who does know details could shed light on the topic.

@ hideawayblues..........That was exacly 1 month after they sold the last of his run of 383, Martin 000C pegasus guitars with Engelman Spruce Tops! So again............WTF?

@collinsamps On page 44 of the September 2006 interview in Guitar World Acoustic, Steve Miller said about Adirondack spruce, "Now, to all you acoustic guitar players out there: it's what you want on your guitar. Trust Uncle Steve, it's the way to go, man. It's better than Engelmann, better than Sitka. It's just phenomenal, and as it opens up and breathes it gets better and better."

Also of note...........The first Steve Miller guitar martin did (000c) was Engelmann / Mahogany, the 2nd one they did(00-37K) was Engelmann / Koa, the 3rd one they did (00-37K2) was all Koa...........so for him to say that he knows that Steve has an appreciation for Adirondack.........it's obviously a very recent appreciation!

concur 100%....... To the guys credit at least he got the adirondack part right......Joe Mack, a three state Martin district sales mgr said it was Italian spruce in his video over there-------->>
Things people need to know about this unique guitar are the short scale, maple back, side & neck, and low oval neck shape, a rare combination of those three things on a martin 000C or OMC shape. Tommy Emmanuel and Doyle Dykes both play Spruce/Maple combo on their main guitars by the way.

Geez, that guy is a Martin employee?... his overview explained as much as any guy that looked at a spec sheet for 10 seconds & had decent vision. "I know Steve Miller has an appreciation for Adirrondack spuce which is why you have it on this Steve Miller guitar" the man has a grasp on the obvious.
