Putting chemicals on your hair can be a scary thing, trust me, I know. BUT it's not so scary if someone shows you how to do it safely, correctly, AND effectively (Who cares about "correct" if you don't get good results?!?) I'll walk you through, step by step by baby step, and soon you'll be relaxing your hair at home like a pro! I know it's a longgggg video, but chemicals on your head is no joke, and I didn't include anything that isn't very important information.

Before you watch this, be sure to check out my Tips & tricks video first:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQhyS0KKXxI

There, I go over every single thing I used, and give you a couple of helpful hints that will make your experience so much easier and less stressful! Also, you can see what my hair looks like after I've relaxed and blowdried it.

  • Instead of leaving over night can't you put a plastic cap on it and sit under the dryer for like half an hour?????

  • @0Candyprincess0 Sure you could, but I don't have a bonnet dryer.

  • This is the right way to relax at home for you! the important thing to know with afro hair is that what works for one won't always work for another we all have different hair needs and different types of hair within the afro category. Im not bashing you, I loved the way you did your hair and Im so glad it works for you because many off us take forever to find what works for us. Happy Hair Journey Sweetie! x

  • @TheRuthiena Absolutely right. My hair responds well to relaxing, but not everyone's hair will... that's why strand testing is so important!

  • Am I the only one that bases their scalp (put the vaseline all over my scalp) before I relax? Everyone on Youtube that I've seen so far just relaxes without basing. That scares me. :S

  • Girl u r not suppose 2 do the edges first, thats how they fall out

  • i do not relax my edges first..thats the most softess and delicate part of my hair..its gonna break before the back hair is relaxed

  • wat hair products you use to get your hair so pretty and long.

  • Gorgeous! lol

  • Do u coat yours ends with any thing like conditioner, oil or grease because i saw that u got a little bit of relaxer on your ends witch can cause breakage so i would recommend it to any one who's doing the relaxer them selves cuz most people are not perfect of keeping it off.

  • @ilubB5 Normally u don't have to base your scalp because of the natural oils that your scalp produce which acts as a base and when i get ready to relax i wait a least a week after a shampoo but i would still recommend base the scalp.

  • What a genius idea of parting like that & washing out the areas that are burning!!! I never would have thought of that!

  • Your hair is absolutely beautiful!!!! I've never seen a black woman with hair like yours. My hair has grown a great deal thanks to weaves!!!! I still find along the front of my scalp & in back it breaks. I will try your technique!! I'd like to know what the texture of your hair is naturally? Honestly, to me it didn't look like you even needed a relaxer. My natural state is a FRO!!!

  • @ashley2o10 I know I was just thinking NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! LOL

  • @LaurenMechelle Must Must Must invest in one. Saves so much time! Love your video btw. I've been relaxing my hair for years. Wish I had this tutorial way back then. I learned the hard way. :)

  • What about showering? i seen on the instructions that you don't need to wash your hair with the products you normally use for at least three days. It's been one day and i wanna wash my hair! can i?
