Yeah I know it wasn't made by Google, it was made by Dexetra (an Android development team). Alpha was made in 8 hours. It was made because Siri was the Iphone 4s' USP, and they wanted to show that its easy to make, and well as to offer a similar service to Android users.
And by the way if you didn't know already, Google is rumoured to be making a version called Majel.

Iris wasn't even made by Google. It was made by a couple of guys in India (I think) that saw Siri and they wanted to see if they could replicate it. About 5 hours of developing it, they released it. Iris was more of a gag. It wasn't thought about and developed for months like Siri was. I mean, Siri is pretty cool and in my eyes, its what made the 4s. Iris, has no impact on Android, its just an app you can install for shits and giggles.

Herp derp, it was an application that was made as quickly as possible to show that Apple doesn't take any time or consideration over its products, hence a waste of money. But they'd obviously want it to be good to prove their point, and although their point is correct, Siri is better.
