they're obviously fast, but they'd be able to get the same boat speed at a lower rating, then more speed at this rate if they didn't take so long to put the blades in at the catch.

IM NO EXPERT! But the Stroke seat is hugely drawing in to his lap. Notice how his blade doesn't stay in the water for the full stroke? and how he doesn't tap down (His oar is being pulled out of the water not being tapped) Oars in the water longer = longer stroke = more meters each stroke= going faster!
