byebyeblakey is another FAA management syncophant. Most managers haven't worked traffic since 1990. They got off the scopes becuase they got scared. Not a good trait to have when the dam breaks and you're downstream. You can always tell the management dipsticks: they always mention how much controllers make and how little they work. The average supervisor in NY makes 220K a yr to manage 6 controllers. Just like the private sector.

Total NATCA bullshit. I am a 20 controller and my pay last year was over $159,000 for 40 hours a week. I have a high school education. Staffing is NOT a problem at O'Hare.

Chicago has been OT since the PATCO strike. Nobody except management works a 40 hour week at ORD. What is amazing to me is ATC1ORD and the other managment fools always post their pay. Their pay is always at the top of the pay scale. NOBODY at Chicago has a base pay of $159k. NOBODY.

Well spread the word. The National Airspace System will be destroyed under this regime. Certainly spending $32 billion on cancelled programs and cost overruns is absurd. Could've had double the controller workforce and still saved money since 1982. And they want to spend $75 billion in the future? you would think Rumsfield was in charge of the FAA.

What load of crap, this is typical NATCA propaganda. Don't let Air Traffic fool you, by far the biggest portion of the overall budget to the FAA goes to air traffic. They also have the least amount of hours worked out of any agency within the FAA. Spending $100,000 on an education is about par folks, it doesn't mean your job should pay you every year the amount you spent in total on your education. Just remember, you don't have to work for the FAA.

YOU must be a supervisor. ANC tower averages over seven hours on position a day and works six day weeks. Do you honestly think that one person on any plane gives a shit what a controller is wearing while sitting behind a scope in a dark room or up in a tower? Also, secondary education is irrelevant. You are either capable of doing the job or you are not. If you do not have the natural talent for this job a PhD would make no difference.

Grab a headset and see how long you last working LAX, ORD, NY TRACON, SoCal TRACON, ATL, DFW or any number of busy facilities. Remember, ATCs can NEVER make a mistake. A simple transposition of numbers can kill hundreds!
