This GE dishwasher is not working. I can't tell if it's not getting water or not draining or both. The water that does come out is all white and foamy like there is a lot of soap in there.
I followed some instructions here: http://www.partselect.com/dishwasher+dishwasher-wont-fill+repair.htm
My float valve, float switch, and water inlet switch all look good. My drain solenoid is very corroded, but tests out to about 34-35 ohms. If any of those parts are bad, the drain solenoid looks the worst, but I just don't know enough about dishwashers to make a good decision. If anyone has any ideas, please leave a comment.

  • It's been a while since I dealt with this, so I don't remember all the details, but I opened up all the hoses on the pump, and there wasn't much junk in there. I replaced several parts that I had read online were likely causing the problem. I replaced the water inlet valve, the check valve (backflush valve), and the drain solenoid. Still didn't fix it. Rather than dump anymore money into an 11 year-old dishwasher, I bought a new Bosch. Sorry if that doesn't help those with similar problems.

  • why don't you try to let the dishwasher run for about 2 minutes so it can gain power

  • Maybe your pump is clogged. Big chunks of food or labels from new dishes could be the problem.

  • Have you figured this out? Mine is doing the same thing.

  • @beachbummm69 I think he bypassed the door switch as someone would do w/ a washing machine.

  • Did you ever figure out what was wrong??? i have the exact same prob...

  • i didnt know they would fill with the door open....seems like a stupid design flaw

  • Try checking the pump and filter to se if its not draining all the way and if soap is just sitting there.Tyr running a cycle without eny thing in the washer if thay dose not work then just drain it if you can
