In this beautiful, poetic and deeply personal film, Moroccan filmmaker Fatima Jebli Ouazzani investigates the status accorded women in Islamic marriage customs and the continuing importance of virginity. At the age of 18 Fatima defied tradition, leaving home and escaping the likelihood of the same kind of oppressive marriage that had plagued the lives of her mother and grandmother. Fatima has not spoken with them for 16 years. Now 34, unmarried and no longer a virgin, she returns to her beautiful country of birth to confront her family with her views.

@JIHADJUZGAD0R What are you talking about? The hymen doesn't determine whether a woman is a virgin or not.

1. Some girls are born without it.

2. The hymen may tear naturally when a girl plays sports/ physical activities

3. It is not always smooth but tends to be perforated and cause it to break once a girl gets her period. (what usually happens)

4. It can be broken by tampons

5. It may be very small or very elastic so no breakage even after pregnancy.

6. It most likely won't bleed when broken.

Some girls will, but not all. It's rather a rarity THAT you bleed.

@NinaNeko4 I take it further and belive that "virginity" itself does not exist other than a "concept" planted in heads. I mean, theres no clear definition of what type of "sex" counts. Or if there is it doesn't make sense because you can say, well what if I did "this", does that not count? Masterbation is doing the same thing!
