The House of Romanov was the second and last imperial dynasty to rule over Russia, reigning from 1613 until the February Revolution abolished the crown in 1917. The later history of the Imperial House is sometimes referred to informally as the House of Holstein-Gottorp-Romanov.On 18th July 1918, the day after the killing at Yekaterinburg of the last Tsar, Nicholas II and and family, members of the extended Russian royal family, the Romanovs, including a Nun, and servants met a brutal death by being thrown down a mineshalf near Alapayevsk by Bolsheviks.
