Udaipur was founded in 1568 by Maharaja Udai Singh II and is surrounded by lakes, forests, and the Aravalli Mountain Range. Beautiful palaces and temples lie around and in Lake Pichola which is the central focus of Udaipur. The City Palace Complex, the largest palace in Rajasthan and Jagniwas Palace, the now luxurious hotel in the middle of the lake where James Bond's "Octo***" lived are key features. You can even find the world's biggest turban here. These opulent Rajput structures situated directly on the lake with mountains towering behind make this spot feel like the setting of some grand fairytale. Unfortunately, the town reminds the visitor about it's Bond fame by playing Octo*** every night at 7:30. It can be heard in stereo from any rooftop across town. The lake is always full of people swimming, bathing, or doing their laundry. We were very fortunate to see the lake full as the monsoons were very good this summer. This is definitely one of the most beautiful places in the world.

  • Yeah you should probably not travel at all, just stay home where it's nice, safe, and cozy and pretend to travel on youtube.

  • India would be a fascinating place to visit. Sure, India is a land of contrasts, especially with poverty & wealth. But the same could be said for the US or any other first world country. China is also another country of vast contrasts for the same reason. People need to understand that poverty has no boundaries. India should be proud of her efforts to improve things for her people. Good Luck India...:) Love and best wishes from an Aussie.

Yeah...udaipur is one of the most beautiful cities in India...along with Mysore, it was the most appealing city I visited.

  • @CanadianVandal

I styed in 15 days back it awsome

  • there is nothing wrong with you tube travel!!It's basically free, plus no stopovers ;^))

  • Lived there for 4 years running the Anjani guesthouse near lal ghat. What a shithole.

  • On the lake in Udaipur are also several very expensive five star hotels.... Also Octopussy may be popular there as most films are since India is the number one producer of films in the world... yes, most still in Hindi and most still from Mumbai. A boat trip on the lake and a tour of the Maharajahs palaces is unforgettable. They are know for their tiny art images.
