New economic figures came out today showing that new claims for jobless benefits fell by 37 thousand to a seasonally adjusted 391 thousand. A five month low, and much better than the 420 thousand that economists were expecting. Couple that with news from the Commerce Department that US gross domestic product grew at an annual rate of 1.3 percent last quarter, compared to the previously reported 1 percent and everyone's treating this like really good news! But the reality is that they are ignoring the bigger picture, and the US and European markets are tied together. Alyona talks to RT Correspondent Lauren Lyster about why you can't separate the two economies.

  • I went to my local credit union 2 years ago..... and I will NEVER look back. They give me a debit card with no fees except when I use other ATMs. The big banks are making a fatal mistake. They think we NEED them. THEY ARE WRONG.

  • put your money in banks that don't serve shareholders. f**k barclays, goldman sachs, mf global. read econned, fiasco and blank check if you want the truth about financial corruption

  • these girls dont know shit

  • Want the truth? Don't blame the banks on this one. You can blame your wonderful government who are imposing so many restrictions on american businesses (banks especially) that the banks have no other choice but to pass fees to the consumer. But it's not just banks the government is fucking over. America is so business hostile now it is little wonder everyone is starting to outsource to India or China.

  • All big bank's money is OUR money. Just withdraw it - now! Stavre the beasts

    !

  • RECESSION IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT - WE ARE IN A DEPRESSION - THAT IS FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS AND POOR. NOT FOR THE RICH AND THE ELITE.

  • swap to ur local

    credit union

  • I too use a credit union and have for a very long time anyone can and that is the best way to get rid of the big banks.....we do not need them.....take your money away from them and put it in a local credit union......we are really in charge that way....and I have no fees for checking or my debit card and can use it anywhere...

  • @banshee8989 Thanks for the tip man l'll go to mine and see if they'll do the same.

  • Waiting for the government to "fix" the big banks? Never, and I mean ever, going to happen. The good news is, we don't need the government to fix this problem. Fire shitty bank. Fire skank of america. Take your money out, tell them why you're taking your money out, and do it today. I fired skank of america when I found they were charging people five bucks to cash checks I wrote them. I view my checks as a promise to pay in full at my bank - not an excuse to rip off my employees on payday.
