  • @AAGMR I was there too, sat in the box right nest to the stage, it was amazing!

  • Heard Devia sing this part at the Met in the 80's and she was truly marvelous in it. a very Large voice but agile, flexible, Her perfectly focused high notes soaring all over the Theater, she was as technically good as Sutherland and as dramatically exciting as Callas.

  • @GoldenAgeSunshine Well, she must have some influence on the conductor, because if you check other versions under other conductors, they are all pretty slow.. She still sounds pretty good considering her age.

  • farewell to the role!? please say it isn't so!

  • @ciociosan she said it's because lucia should be a young (and quite anoressic stupid) girl, so being 60 y o, she didn't feel like singing it anymore.

  • DIVINA TI ADORO!

  • I had the luck of my life when I heard the very same Devia in the very same Opera, same theatre (maybe one week later)! But to be honest, I didn't remember it had this slow pace. And she was LITTERALLY sumberged with applause!
