This is the fifth spot in a series of 10 vignettes shot with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. In some states, a key in the ignition and an open container meet the criteria for intent to drive and can lead to a DUI/DWI charge. This spot highlights that issue and aims to advise Sailors and Marines of the danger in making such a bad decision. Working with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, the Naval Safety Center was able to produce these spots, and also helped to produce a 27 minute training video that will be shipped to commands around the world in the next month or two. The larger training product will contain specific information about laws in various states and tips for avoiding situations that can lead to poor decisions and tragedy.
