amara, is in the north of sudan. their people r known as the mahs, the speak an additional languge known as rotana, apart from arbic. this singer known as shanan .

What a beautiful song, love it although I did not understand the words.
I fully agree with the comment about the richness of the Sudanese culture.
I love the good natured and natural way the woman is dancing in the background.
Forgive my ignorance but am I correct in assuming this is Halfa in oppose to Dongla langauge? Sounds more Halfawi to me... hehehe
