Despite being a bears fan this was funny and very true...They should have beaten washington in at least one of those two years. In 1988 I think the 49ers may have just been too good because they caught lightning in a bottle towards the end of the season and into the playoffs just like the 87 skins did. We had too many primadonnas on the bears to become a dynasty.

The Bears should have won at least 2 titles with the talent they had. In 1985, they had the youngest team in the NFL. They had a dominant defense,a probowl QB, the NFL's top running game, and solid special teams. They had the best deep threat in the game as well as the best defensive scheme. They were solid at every position group. After Leslie Frasier's injury in the SB, the corners were a weakness. Still, with all that talent they should have won more titles. Injuries to key positions hurt too.

Perhaps no other NFL team of the last 4ecades squandered as much talent as Ditka's team - never should have 2 straight divisional playoff games to washington- even if joe gibbs was a hall of fame coach

Yea, the immortal '86 Redskins, a team with a legendary QB that scored zero points the next game.
-
Naw they ran into the '86 Redskins,'87 Redskins, and the '88 49ers that prevented them from returning to the Super Bowl.

I agree, unfortunately.

After the 1985 season, the Bears had the talent to have won perhaps two Super Bowls in the second half of the 1980s at least.
It was just too much of a 1985 hangover though.
This was from Chicago TV channel!
