  • Love that power when he lets go. This performance of Messiah never drags. The energy level is marvelous.

  • So dramatic in the beginning! The fury in his eyes. It's so amazing.

  • He really needs to stop putting on that stupid 'dark' tone! I'm sure there's a nice voice in there somewhere!

  • @Agorante I have actually performed in Messiah with Mr Tahu Rhodes, at the Sydney Opera House (I was one of the humble tenors in the choir). He was magnificent. All the women in the choir were drooling.

  • @Toryhere1 Me too. Most operatic basses and many baritones are this size. Hines 6'6". Talvela 6'7" I think the Brits Robert Lloyd and Gwynne Howell are both 6'4". James Morris is about 6'5" and so is Hampson.

I stand corrected. He isn't a cute little guy but a cute big guy. I guess I was misled by his skull. Usually large specimens have skulls that show allometrical features but Teddy (as you call him) is neotenous.

  • @Agorante Teddy is 6 foot 4

  • He's a wonderful singer... great technique, great look, marvellous interpretation... he looks a bit scary in the beginning, though. I felt a bit intimidated with those big eyes :)

  • The nose is not a major resonator.

  • If I need a DVD of The Messiah, I think this is the one.

  • wonderful !!

  • Just great! I like everything in this. The tempo, singer's breath control, quality of voice.

  • Well I certainly won't model my version of this aria on his interpretation. First of all because I can't sing the phrase "But the lord shall arise" the way he does. He does the whole thing on one breath - show off. Most take one breath, some two, I need three. On the other hand he's a cute little guy who comes off kind of precious. I'm to old and too big for all those banjo eyed muggings. I'm more like Hines and taller too (depending on who's got on their tacchi alti).
