Drake University President David Maxwell picks and strums his way through a cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues." On vocals is Jay Byers, CEO of The Greater Des Moines Partnership.

Byers and Maxwell dubbed their duet The Bulldogs for a one-off performance at the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce's "Victory Celebration" dinner on February 18, 2014. They also performed tunes by The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen.

Maxwell lends his blues stylings to the occasional Drake University event. Byers tackles guitar and vocals for a central Iowa band called Dead Yellow Canaries.
