    It's based on location, not the condition of a building. A burnt out building in some locations can be worth more than a mansion in other locations.

    You're right. It's probably so expensive because of it's unique quality. You've seen the inside, it's not very modernly equiped or filled with lots of cool gadgets like most expensive apartments. I don't think this can even be considered as an apartment? It's a capsule! It's way cooler. :P

    Exactly, I'm not sure how expensive it is to live in Tokyo, but a quarter of a million dollars for a little cubicle seems outrageously expensive...

    Isn't the idea for those things to be cheap?
