From Russia with Love: An Aces High II film

These are highlights from a fun sortie I flew in Aces High II, in a Russian Lavochkin La7. This is less an after-action report (AAR), and more about relating a little story visually--though I do explain a bit more about what happened in the next few lines. As I reviewed the raw gun camera footage a few days later, the idea for this little video production came to me, so I made a project out of it.

AAR: The enemy were assailing our carrier group offshore. While investigating the situation, I came upon a low Lancaster bomber formation just about to drop on our carrier. I took a quick pass but missed. However, had my eye on, and managed to sucker his escort fighter into lingering too long in our anti-aircraft artillery, while tracking me for a kill. Low on fuel, I returned to our field to find one of our guys being chased by a low P-51 Mustang. I took out the Mustang, then intercepted a low B-24 bomber attacking the field. After a quick slash at him that took off part of his left wing, I had no fuel left and had to come in wheels-up for a nerve-wracking belly landing on the field. Mission successful (sorta...).

I really loved a number of your camera angles, and thought the choreography to the music was well done as well, but I was disappointed in the lack of action.

I couldn't even tell if you were in the pony in a different sortie until it went down.

Very interesting slow fade at the end. Wasn't sure if I liked it at first, but second thought says it's a keeper!
