The tallest pipe of the recently built 128' stop is about 41 meters high and goes from the basement, where the air is kicked into the pipe with an unimaginable pressure, to just under the roof :-)

  • There don't exist a 128ft stop. it's a fake. The biggest stop is a 64ft stop in the atlantic city convention hall. and this pipe is maybe 20m high.

    and 100ft isn't a stop. this also don't exist....

And if you really build a 128ft stop you don't really hear it..

  • FAKE !!!

  • Haha, love the guy inside the pipe

  • I didn't mean the hymn.. I meant what came after it. What is the name of the improvisation? I listened to claudia wassner's improvisation -dangerous organ and it didn't sound like this so i'm confused.

  • Is this a hymn? If so, what is the name of the hymn?

  • Nice bass!!

however a 128ft pipe would be pointless to build, since it could not be heard by a human ear. The frequenzy would be 4hz while we can only hear 20-20000Hz. (if we are healthy and not older than 20)

  • @ludwig123456789 It is technically possible for humans to hear 1hz if the amplitude is high enough. You wouldn't be able to tell pitch, you would just hear a pulse once a second. Humans aren't supposed to be able to hear below 20hz, but 64' stops are at 8hz. It would be very similar to that.

  • @ludwig123456789 A 512' stop would a massive destruction weapon wich require a lot of pressure to work

  • @porz83 Quite right. But there is another 64' stop in the Willis organ of Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

  • Plus, digital recordings cannot pick up the 128' register, and only the 2nd harmonic which is around the 32 register.. Would love for someone to make one. Even it they only make one 128' CCCC stop, might ruin some foundations, but the sheer awesomeness of it.

  • I would agree with the 32' Ophikleide...128', I don't think so. Also, this is a Carmelite priory church in Augsburg, GR, the friars/monks are singing the Salve Regina (Hail, Holy Queen) with improv after. However, there could possibly be a 128' pipe, but it would speak so slowely it would muddle any other stops played with it. You can hear a 128' (simulated) on the Internet, see for yourself. But this video has such a grand sound, love listening to it, my kind of organ and church. Enjoy!

  • 32' Ophikleide, I reckon
