I am in the aviation field and will admit flat out that high speed rail is FAR more efficient for travel under 500 miles...maybe far more. To run from Boston to NY or DC, the Acela is the way to go - bar none.

I hate flying nowadays, due to more security TSA measures, although I can see why they would do such. I live in Colorado, and even though we don't have super high speed rail here, I may plan an Amtrak trip somewhere within the continental USA.

Our trains will continue to top at 70mph, while the rest of the world's trains keep getting faster; pushing the 200mph mark.

Best damn train on American rails. What a rush!
I can tell you from riding a few through there that she is up to about 147 by the time she goes under the bridge, but up to 150 by the time she's just past you.

Yup, the speeds for kingston are 141-152 MPH.
I just took this thing on the 10th, but on washington line. Up to 135 mph.
