Shandita
This composition of mine took shape around the time I was reading a book by Tony Robinson-Smith called Back in 6 Years. The book is derived from excerpts of his journals during the six years of his life that he spent circumnavigating the globe, without using an airplane. I named it after an Amazonian river boat which carried Tony from Peru to Brazil. The composition itself relies heavily on techniques pioneered by Michael Hedges and Billy McLaughlin, and currently used by Andy McKee and others.
"Every long journey is a story of opportunities grasped and opportunities let slip through the fingers." Tony Robinson-Smith

Music Composed by Stephen Trepanier
Special thanks to Tony Robinson-Smith.

Recorded December 31st 2008 Kingsville, Ontario, Canada.

All the Best.

  • Hey Jeff

It's not the same tuning, Michael played 'Because it's There' on a harp guitar tuned low to high GBbCADEADEAD. My tuning for this is actually DACGCE,

    Cheers.

  • i think it's great. i love the technique. what tuning are you using?

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it, the tuning is, DACGCE.

  • So... I was right on Que with the Kaki King comment... and I love this style of guitar, I hope to one day be able to play as beautifully as you, and all that are credited do.... :) I have been playing for about 3-4 years now; and I am absolutely positive, that I will play 4 the rest of my life :)

  • This sounds similar to the Kaki King songs in the movie August Rush. I am definately going to check into the book that you guys are talking about. I have a long ways to go before I start playing as beautiful as you have done here! Simply Amazing!!!

  • This one is seriously amazing!

    Tony.

  • That's beautiful! I haven't gotten that far in the book yet (I just bought it yesterday. Tony was there himself promoting the book at Chapters and he signed it!), but I'll try listening to this song when I get to that part!

  • goog, good, gohoood!
