gen 1 and 2 ps3 owners are screwed because the older ps3 had everything (4 usb slots, memory card readers and ps2 support) but are likely to YLOD and therefore need a new ps3. Only option, ps3 slim, sad I know. Good news is that the ps3 is now cheaper!

hahah ylod, buddy that happens to 6% of all ps3 owners, and that mostly happens to the 40gig and 80gig, now stop bitching cuz 60 gig is teh best and ps3slimm sucks balls cuz i upgraded my 60 gig to a 300gig and it works fine!

No not for other people. I've seen alot of 60gb
owners who has ylod on the gaming forums and they are pissed at Sony for removing that console of shelves. Yes 60gb is the best but the slim is worthy because of it's price. So for those ps3 owners with broken 60gb including other damages cannot get another 60gb from shelves.

It's stupid I know... I have a 60 GB and that can play ps2 games. I'm thinking of not buying the new slim but I've gotten the yellow light of death.. soo... I'm left with no choice...

the entire ps2 sells for 90 bucks. optical drive, network chip, memory, cpu, gpu, controller ports, case, 1 controller, power supply unit, video cables, boxing etc. sold with a profit fot 90 bucks. EE+GS will not set you back that much so it's no excuse for ditching ps2 compatibility. i would pay 50 bucks more so I can play ps2 games with my hdtv improved graphics and all. sony dropped the ball.
