On Saturday, May 9, 2009, Lafayette High School in Lafayette, Louisiana dedicated its Freedom Memorial, the first of its kind in a high school. The display in the schools quad is designed to honor those who preserve and protect our freedom and safety--our service men and women and veterans from the Army, Navy, Marine, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Merchant Marines as well as Firefighters and Law Enforcement. The ceremony also honored Lafayette High School alumni who died in the War on Terror--CPL Joseph C. Thibodeaux, III; PFC David P. Burridge; SPC Derek E. Junk; SSG Jacob McMillan, and PO2 Brandon Gregory Dalme--and their families. Anyone who would like to honor a family member or loved one by placing a personal name plate on the LHS Freedom Memorial may do so by contacting - dhargrave@cox.net

Thank you for posting this. My only regret is that all Lafayette High School Graduates that have lost their lives on the Battlefield were not also named.
MAJ. Thomas T. Hensley, of the LHS Class of 1956, lost his life as the Pilot of a F-105 over Loas on March 17, 1968
