@kellydjelly Hi … Most of the trees are over five years old and they bear fruit every year. I’m in Zone 5 within Canada, so some of the trees require a bit of care that aren’t indigenous to our area. Some trees I have to protect from the long winters such as: Pawpaws, Figs, American persimmon..etc
@memberson The arctic kiwi needs a male and female tree in order for it to produce fruit. Normally, the ratio is one male tree to seven female trees. The pears on the other hand are very easy to grow and they produce a lot of fruit. The pears require a minimum amount of pruning every spring. For my trees I prune them twice per year.
@memberson Yes definitely you can grow from seeds any kind of Kiwi. You will have to extract the seeds and dry them out in the sun. The sex is not determine until after germination. You will have to germinate a numbers of them to ensure that you get a male from the batch you're using. Depending on the Kiwi seeds used, the foliage tip can be white or pink tip to indicate male or female. You can also get them directly from a local nursery about 12" high already with the sex determined.
what region are you in to grow all the different kind of trees? and how long do it take for most of them to bear fruit? thanks.
