Melanie tears into her version of Hank's "Never Wear Mascara When You Love A Married Man" previously covered by Jerry Lee Lewis's sister Linda Gail Lewis. Judge for yourself.
Then Hank sings of gold diggers on. "Plastic Palmtrees"

  • Am looking for the pig song? anyone know where I can fnd it

  • Finally managed to get the vinyl of "Cowboys Stay on Longer" on to my iPod. Bliss. Best country album never to come out of Nashville. Thanks for the great times at '80's gigs at The Pegasus, Bull and Gate etc. You turned a lot of C&W hating-people on to the true music!

  • Yes, I've seen then "Raise the Roof" singers on Youtube - fantastic!

  • She does a lot of classes at the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill, South London. She's the director of the Raise the Roof Singers (RTRS) - Google "raise the roof singers"

  • Yes indeedy, Melanie appeared with Double-Bassist Ollie Blanchflower as a duo on folk / country / jazz circuits. They were brilliant. I know she went into teaching, but haven't heard of her for at least ten years.

  • Is this Melanie Harrold who sang "I Live In The City" in 1979? I think she works as a music therapist now.

  • Melanie Harrold performed on both of Tim Hart's nursery rhyme albums, along with Maddy Prior, Rick Kemp, John Kirkpatrick, Bob Johnson, Peter Knight and Brian Golbey, just to name a few.

Melanie Harrold is outstanding on BOBBY SHAFTOE and A FOX JUMPED UP and she does a killer duet with Maddy Prior on MICHAEL FINNEGAN. So, just where were these kind of singers when we were young and wanted to hear nursery rhymes?

  • All too brief reunion with Hank last night at the Half Moon Putney. Tear-jerking. Thanks Melanie and Sam - and good to see BJ Cole again too. What about a 1980's band reunion - jogging, big G, etc?

  • I used to be a Hank wangford follower many years ago. We used to see him and the rest of the band at the Pegasus Pub in Green Lanes, sadly no longer a pub. Happy memories, was even present at one of the their live recordings one afternoon.

  • Boeing Duveen has told me that this is footage from the 1982 Cambridge Folk Festival
