PR firms not necessarily mean propaganda. Propaganda is an old thing, though its use is now more sophisticated. But today the role of PR firms is more than doing only propaganda. It also includes corporate reputation management.

In the video he states "Public relations is the way propaganda is waged in the United States". In this age of globalism the PR message inserted into news content or cleverly weaved into an entertainment production script may just as easily originate overseas. In fact there's a massive investment being made by non-democratic countries in the PR realm. It's insidious.

You neglected in your industry summary non profit organizations/charities, hospitals, government organizations vital to democracy etc. Please demonstrate both sides. True, there is a dark side to the industry but a lot of good work is done that should not be typecast in the same way.

Fine, but do these organizations have the right to influence journalistic integrity? I say they don't.

No, they don't have that right. And a good PR firm doesn't try to do that. Ethics are crucial to good PR practice. A PR practitioner simply provides the information a journalist may be interested in. They do not force or bribe anyone to publish the information.
