This is the first short film made by students from the Kilimanjaro Film Institute in Arusha. This institute aims to train young Tanzanian people in different disciplines of filmmaking, in order to give them the necessary skills to find employment. Besides the Kilimanjaro Film Institute, the Kilimanjaro Film Productions has been established, to create employment for graduates, and a sustainable income for the Kilimanjaro Film Institute.
The target group are motivated young people aged between 17-23 years old, who lack the financial means to develop their talents. The most sustainable and effective way to help these youths is by providing them with relevant training and durable jobs.
Kilimanjaro Film Institute and Kilimanjaro Film Productions is an initiative of Bibeck, a Dutch media production company based in Amsterdam. (www.bibeck). The project is supported by two Dutch organisations: United Boardcast Facilities (www.ubf.nl), the biggest facilitator of audiovisual productions in the Netherland; and International Child Support (www.icsfonds.nl), one of the biggest child focused development organisations in the Netherlands.
